This sampler quilt is a great way to try out lots of different blocks, all sewn from 2-1/2″ (6.5cm) strips of fabric. Many quilt shops sell rolls of pre-cut fabric strips, all 2-1/2″ wide and roughly 42″ long; these are sometimes known as Jelly Rolls™, but this is actually a trade name for the ones distributed by Moda™; different manufacturers have different names for them.

For this pattern, we’ll refer to them as fabric rolls. Of course you can also get the same effect by cutting yardage from your stash into 2-1/2″ strips!

Sometimes it’s hard to choose just one block to work in, so this is a sampler-style quilt, which enables you to try lots of combinations of fabrics and blocks.
