I do love a quirky technique! This one is in a copy of Quilting Manual by Delores A. Hinson is no exception. The book itself is an interesting and meandering read in itself. The instructions are shown, but the technique is not mentioned anywhere else in the book 🤷♀️. After years of thinking about this, I put fabric and thread into action and have started on a sample. As with lots of techniques, some them I can see a future for, and others not so much for me.

Well I don’t think so! If you’re entering a quilt as I am thinking of doing, then we had better get stitching! I’ve got a couple that I’m wondering about, and both need hand quilting, so I may take the decision to the deadline.

And amongst other things it’s been a two quilts basted type of week 🧵🪡🙌.
One had been waiting a while, even though I have always known how I would be hand quilting it, but the other was a very quick turnaround from pieced to basted, so pleased with that!
Now to decide on thread colour and onto the hand quilting.
It will be Big stitch for both, and possibly a similar design 😉.

Excited that my local sewing shop @worldofsewing.uk made a whole window based on my latest book Chicken Scratch Embroidery 🤩🧵🪡 from @searchpress . How fun is that !
And in the spirit of getting things done, I started hand basting the layers of my latest quilt. Some tops get put together and then left to mature, but others need to e quilted and when I have the idea I keep going. I had baste for preference and indulgence 😆🪡🧵.
One reason is that it really gives you time to absorb the quilt as you think about the quilting.
This is a prime example, as I was pretty sure how this would be quilted.
But in the end I was wrong. It’s going a different way now, and I’m so happy with the second idea.

Many of you know my complete love of sewing curves using one basic template set ☺️. I’ve had quilts based on these shapes in my books and magazines, and I teach a class, comfortable with Curves, all about sewing curves on the machine almost pinless 🤣.
So this quilt has been the samples I stitch when I’m teaching, and as if by magic I completed all the blocks last week. Don’t worry , I’ve plenty more designs for the template, but this quilt is moving to the next stage now!
