This box is the most wonderful introduction into the world of patchwork quilting, the hottest trend in homeware right now. A collaboration with Makebox and quilter Carolyn Forster. In this box Carolyn shows us how to create this super pretty large scalloped placemat in a fun, clear and simple way.

This joyful design can be used as a heirloom table centre or you can purchase our top up fabric bundles to make more placemats in the same colour. 

About the Design

At the centre of the large placemat is a patchwork quilted panel of limited edition ditsy floral print fabric cut into small squares and reconstructed into a patchwork panel or block. Squares are the perfect shape to work with when you are new to quilting. These are then attached to the premium weight cotton fabric creating a delicious scalloped border. 

Carolyn’s philosophy is that you can take your quilting projects anywhere, “quilting on the go” is her motto. This project can be hand sewn or completed with a machine. 

Each box makes one large placemat.
The finished placemat measures 47cm x 34cm / 18.5 inches x 13 inches. 

When you place your order you can also add on a fabric bundle to create an extra placemat. Each bundle includes floral fabric, plain fabric and wadding. You will have enough thread in your box to create two placemats in total.
