Winter Whites
Barbara Brackman did an observant post the other day on the use of white in 'Modern quilts'. I love it when she says things that I have been thinking.
Go take a look and make up your own mind!
In the meantime I will leave you with some WIP. Some of it started 2012 in this state and will now end it so! One of them did get finished, but even more new projects got started. Need I say more.
The common theme here is the white, or my use and interpretation of it. You can think of it as my 'snow', as we don't seem to have any of it here at the moment. I will be rectifying that when we ski over the holidays!
Enjoy, and I will be back in 2013.

Is there anything new under the sun?

Barbara's post was a great one. When I first started quilting I thought I had to use white or cream backgrounds in every quilt I made too. I'm glad I live in a time where I can see so many different ideas and adapt the ones I like to the way I quilt whether someone calls them traditional or modern.
Love that last quilt you posted. I am intrigued by the construction. Looks complicated, but really isn't. Would you mind if I tried my hand (some day) at making one like that?
Happy Holidays.

Just to let you know the quilt is in Ruth Finley’s book ‘Old Patchwork Quilts and the Women who made them’. Page 151 called Flying X. Have also seen the block on its own in the Perfect patchwork Primer, Beth Gutcheon.
