Stash Comfort

Friday, January 21st, 2011

I Know lots of you are talking about not buying new fabric, using what you have and being focused on only buying fabric with a purpose when you do.But it is very comforting to know on grey English days, when everywhere I look I see this: Quilt Chaos!

To know that I had this was winging its way to me.

And now it is here and washed and folded I do feel a bit more calm. Yes I still have 'book stuff' in on going heaps all over the place, but I know my new fabric is waiting for me when I finish!

FYI, it's a mix of Alexander Henry, Kaffe Fassett and Tammis Keefe from Micheal Miller.

Itching to Stitch

Monday, January 10th, 2011

When I have loads of writing to do, and a deadline, I really miss the carefree stitching, of wondering what this or that will look like if I stitch it. No pressure just stitching.

And it is a New Year and there are lots of ideas buzzing around. So I gave myself half an hour off  this morning and stitched some Window Pane Blocks from here.

I really like the effect that more blocks have. I can see this going further perhaps, when I have time!

Have a look here for some blocks to sew  throughout this year. There seems to be lots of ideas and it is great to see which fabrics people are using!

For a shorter term project join in with Lori and her doll quilt along.

There seems to be quilt ideas out there for everyone at the moment, so no excuse not to stitch!

Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas with Family and Friends, and found some time for a bit of stitching?

Looking around Blog Land I have been admiring the Holiday decorating that goes on. I decorate, but nothing like some of the pictures I peek at. They are amazing. I do however have a couple of quilts that only come out at Christmas.

This is a strippy quilt that I made and had long arm quilted. I loved the clean lines and unfussyness of its Christmassy feel:

We had a busy time, and spent New Year in France skiing. We were lucky with the snow and the weather was great!

I managed some off piste sewing:

I had some fun gifts at Christmas. When I was small I started reading with Ladybird books, and I can remeber saving my pocket money to buy titles as I got older.

A while back the graphics used on the books started to be used on other products, like mugs, note books and giftware.

I was lucky enough to receive:

P was not for 'patchwork', but for pets, but M was for:

And I even got this:

My husband thought I was mad, but I really wanted the tin, not the kit to make a felt teddy bear that is inside! I shall use it to store buttons and the suchlike!

I may not blog much over the next month as I have a deadline to meet on a book……more of that another time!

I will be at the Quilt Show in Ardingly, and then back to 'normal' in February.

Happy New Year to my Blogging Friends!
